Avalanche Back on Angels

San Francisco Avalanche, currently ranked 3rd in the World in the NPPL Pro rankings, are finally ending a 2 year Hiatus from the Angel family by moving up to the Angel G7 in a deal that strengthens WDP’s stable of Pro teams, and adds some heavy firepower to Avalanches quest for their fist win of 2005. The Avalanche deal is for Angel guns and apparel, and starts immediately, meaning Avalanche will be playing the Chicago PSP with entirely new equipment.

Avalanche owner Ed Poorman said of the deal; Paintball

“It’s great to be back with WDP, and have the team on Angels again. Before making a decision on a sponsor we practiced and used a selection of the top guns to determine which company to go with, based solely on performance. The G7 we used easily came out on top, and my team can’t wait to shoot them. We will be Angel head to foot, wearing Angel jerseys, pants, gloves and armor too. Having WDP as a sponsor means a lot to the team, as they know they will be well taken care of and will have the very best technical support at events. Its no secret that I have always had a great relationship with WDP, but I left this decision up to my team, and I feel they chose very wisely”.

WDP’s Pro teams now list out as San Francisco Avalanche, DC Arsenal, Stockholm Joy and Miami Rage. Arsenal (7th) have failed to realize their obvious potential so far in 2005, missing the finals in Huntington Beach and Tampa by only 3 points, while Joy (8th) have improved on 2004’s results, but have not yet made an NPPL final. Rage have played short at both events, due to a disqualification, and are currently in 18th place, but expected to climb. Co-incidentally Rage were also one of WDP’s 2002 teams before taking 2 years out to try other equipment before returning to WDP halfway through the 2004 season.

WDP’s Owen Ronayne said;

“WDP is a big fan of Avalanche and always has been. They are a stylish powerhouse team and so the transition back to Angel should be an easy one for them. This deal was done the right way. The team looked at all their options and chose what they thought was the best one for them. They made their choice based on the equipment rather than the mighty dollar, and that speaks volumes for the team. We are very happy they chose Angel and we welcome them back to the WDP stable.”

With the Denver NPPL event looming all eyes will be on a well-dressed Avalanche in Chicago to see how their new Angel G7’s perform for them.
