The "Intellifeed" Mod For HALO and EVlution II

Not too long ago my marker, Fly’d 04 Angel Speed, took a nice trip to New Jersey where it visited Jim Florek of Impact Paintball. But it didn’t travel alone; my Halo B loader and $85.00 came along too. It returned to me with a faster and more responsive loader than any aftermarket board could ever get it to. This upgrade, mainly known by angel owners as the Intellfeed or iHALO

To those that know nothing of this, I will educate you. This setup uses a connection hooked up from the loader to the hopper port of the board inside the Angel marker, completely removing any need for a board in the hopper. After changing some settings on the marker’s board, it creates a hopper speed greater than any board before. When the trigger is pulled, activating a shot, the marker board sends a signal to the hopper to spin for a set amount of time according to the settings. As shots are taken, the hopper feeds, shoot faster and the hopper feeds faster, shoot slower and the hopper feeds slower. So unlike other hopper and board combo’s, this hopper is loading as the gun is firing, instead of after the gun has fired. The great response time is created in that detail. Yet unlike the older intellifeed on Revvy’s, the hopper still uses its own batteries, giving the choice of up to 3 nine-volt batteries. 1 nine-volt battery being enough power to compete with any hopper/board combo out there, minus the q-loader, but who really uses those.

For the testing my setup of the Fly’d 04 Angel Speed was used with 1 nine-volt battery inHALO Paintball the iHALO along with many different paint types. I was very impressed with this new addition to my setup. It fed in sync with my marker no matter how fast or slow I was shooting and never ceased to amaze myself and other players at the field. I no longer have to worry about different hopper settings and speed and making sure to turn my hopper on. Throughout the entire testing I had only one problem. This was that when the hopper ran completely out of paintballs and I had to pod up mid-game, I sometimes forgot to press the primer button on the hopper. The primer button being the button that is used to “manually” turn the drivecone, reloading the empty feedneck. This is only needed when the hopper runs completely empty while shooting, since the gun primes the hopper itself when turned on. But since then it’s become an easy habit that I rarely exercise because of usually refilling before the hopper runs completely empty. Other than that one complication the Jalo upgrade has done nothing but impress myself and other players and has never miss-loaded or caused a ball breakage.

One thing that stood out for me was the battery life. Even though the iHALO goes faster than other hopper/board combos it still uses less battery power than those. The reason for this being that unlike other hoppers that are constantly draining battery life when the hopper is on, this only uses power when the trigger is pulled. All while still delivering an incredible result of 7+ spins of the cone in one second.

From the feedback I have encountered there are two main issues that people think of when considering this upgrade. One would be, “Will it ruin it if a ball hits the wire or the wire is pulled out?”. No, I fully tested this including a couple bad dives (yah, I’m working on my dives). There was a few times when my hopper moved or the wire was accidentally pulled out. This didn’t cause any problems to my gun or the hopper, I simply had to plug it back in and play on. The second question is, “Does my gun have to be milled?”. Yes, in order for the wire to get from the hopper to the board milling is done on the solenoid cover and a rubber connecter is placed there. Although scary for your angel to be milled, it is a very clean job and looks great.

This upgrade is currently available for only Angel markers that have a board with the hopper port on it, which is the port located between the solenoid and battery port with the label HOP above it. And can currently be done to Evolution II (eggy), Reloader B, and Halo B loaders. For more information on the intellifeed HALO  call Impact Paintball at (732)339-0820.
