Hit the 50 Promotions is proud to announce the long-awaited New York Paintball Series (NYPS) where the best teams in New York will be “shooting it out” for thousands of dollars in cash and prizes.

This exciting series, to-date the largest series in New York, will consist of 3 man events, 5 man events, and X-Ball™ Lite. With paint for sale as low as $50 a case, this series is sure to draw in many teams from not only New York, but the neighboring states as well. The series will run from May to October and will award close to $90,000 in cash and prizes.

Earlier this week, I had a chance to sit down with Jared, one of the owners from Hit the 50 Promotions to ask a few questions.

Hog: Why did you decide to develop a serious paintball series in NY?
Jared: What we are trying to do is give local players a chance to develop their team’s skills so that they can eventually compete at the national level. For too long, NY-based teams have had to travel hundreds of miles out-of-state for a good venue, prizes, and competition.

Hog: Why would a team want to play in the NYPS?
Jared: For starters, the series runs throughout the geographical heart of New York. So almost any team can drive about 1 to 2 hrs and hit every event. Most importantly, our prize package consists of cash. As a player myself, I am tired of going to a tournament and winning a low end marker, and then having to sell that online. Hit the 50 Promotions believes that giving out prizes such as low end markers hurts the pro shops. When a team wins a prize like that, they usually sell because they need the money for the next event. When this happens, it takes a sale away from pro shops. We are also trying to unite all the teams, fields, and store owners under one series. By doing so, we believe paintball will rise to the level where it needs to be in New York.

Hog: In what format is the series?
Jared: The series will consist of 3 man rookie teams, 5 man novice teams, and X-Ball™ Lite AM/Open teams.

Hog: X-Ball™ Lite? What is that, and isn’t all this going to cost a team a lot in paint fees?
Jared: X-Ball™ Lite is a shorter version of X-Ball™. It consists of a shorter time limit -- (1 half) and/or the first team to accumulate 5 points. And for your second question, something super cool about the NYPS is that it has lowered the cost of paint just for the X-Ball™ teams. Prices can be found on our website www.thenyps.com

Hog: Does a team get anything extra if they compete in all the events?
Jared: Yes! We are going to award teams seed points at every event. At the end of the NYPS season we will award the top three teams in each division cash and prizes.

Jared: Then NYPS has been very fortunate to get such amazing sponsors.
